Change or Update your Aadhaar details online

Aadhaar supposedly Indian social security number. It's tedious process  to get one get in a line take token for appointment , go to the appointment , submit documents give all the fingerprint scans and other bio-metrics. Finally after 2-3 month card appears but yo see there is one or the other mistake.

Fortunately UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India ) for first time has given us self service option to update it,

without going through same process.
What all can be changed is incorrect name, date of birth, gender, address change and mobile no.

and can be done in few steps all you need is your Aadhaar number a mobile phone and any of these documents and patience as it is a government site it is slow.

Passport, PAN card, Ration / PDS photo card, Voter ID, Driving license, Government photo ID issued by PSU, Arms licence, and may more recognized identity.

Step 1

 Click here to go to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal.

Step 2

 Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number in the field and click on ‘Send OTP’.

Step 3 

Another field appears to Enter mobile number to receive OTP.

Step 4 

Enter OTP in the new field that has appeared and enter Captcha.

Step 5

 Now enter the new values in the field(s) and click on ‘Submit Update Request’ button.

 ( There is help on the page if you wan to change details in regional language)

Step 6

 You will then be asked to verify the details you want to modify and if they are correct then tick mark the confirm check-box and press the ‘Proceed’ button else press ‘Modify’ button to edit your changes.

Step 7 

Now you will be taken to ‘Update Request Confirmation and Document Upload’ page where you have to select the Document you have as proof and then browse the scanned copy of the same document on your computer and wait till the copy is uploaded and click on ‘Submit’ button. ( docx is not supported make sure your soft copy of the document is in pdf or jpg)

Step 8 

You will then see a ‘Update Request Complete’ page stating that ‘Your update request has been successfully submitted on date. Your Update Request Number(URN) is 0000/00111/0XXXX’. You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile number along with your URN. Keep your URN safe as this will be used to check the status of your update/change request later on. You can also download the acknowledgement slip (in pdf format) by clicking on the ‘Download File’ button or can take a printout of it for future reference by clicking on the ‘Print’ button.
